Devastated wife's heart-wrenching promise to 'funny and caring' dad killed in crash

A grieving mum whose husband was killed in a horror car crash had vowed to '"raise our children how we planned" in heart-wrenching words.

Dad and taxi driver Masum Miah, 45, died after his Peugeot Partner was involved in the smash with a BMW 3 Series on a rural A-road near Harrogate on Sunday.

North Yorkshire Police have launched an investigation into the crash after Mr Miah was pronounced dead at the scene.

In a tribute to him, Mr Miah's wife Ambia made a moving statement, addressing him directly as she said she would "never accept the hard reality of losing you".

"With a heavy, broken heart I will have to say Allah Hafiz (goodbye) to you," Ambia said.

"I can't ever accept the hard reality of losing you in this tragic, sudden crash.

"I can't promise you I'll be okay, but I promise I will bring our kids up the way we planned together.

"You'll always be missed because of the way you were humble, funny, loving, caring, and most of all a wonderful husband and father.

"'For sure it is God who created us and to him we shall return.'

"You have gone, but will NEVER be forgotten. May you rest in peace and our next meeting will be in Jannah. In Sha Allah."

The crash occurred at around 1.20am on Sunday when Mr Miah's taxi collided on the road near the village of Dunkeswick, between Harrogate and Leeds.

The BMW driver, a man in his 20s, was also taken to hospital following the crash while officers sealed off the major route for over 12 hours.

A spokesperson for North Yorkshire Police, which is investigating the crash, said: "We are continuing to appeal to anyone who may have seen the collision or who may have any dashcam footage of the collision or the vehicles prior to the incident, to come forward."

Anyone with information on the crash has been urged to contact Detective Constable Steve Hawkins at the force via 101.
