Dev Patel's Monkey Man And The First Omen Showdown Imminent

Monkey Man

Legendary and Warner Bros.' Godzilla v Kong: The New Empire is set to dominate the box office this weekend with an expected $35 million or more in earnings. However, the competition is heating up with the release of two other highly anticipated films.

Monkey Man, directed by Dev Patel in his feature directorial debut, is generating buzz. The film, distributed by Universal Pictures at the recommendation of Jordan Peele, is a revenge-thriller set in India inspired by the legend of Hanuman and the John Wick series. Patel not only directs but also stars in the film as a young man seeking retribution for his mother's death. Monkey Man is projected to open in the $13-14 million range, appealing to younger male audiences.

On the other hand, The First Omen, a prequel to the classic horror film The Omen, is also vying for audience attention. Directed by Arkasha Stevenson, the film follows a young woman in Rome who uncovers a sinister conspiracy. The First Omen is targeting younger female viewers and is opening in key international markets this weekend.

Last weekend, Godzilla v Kong had a strong opening with $80 million domestically and has already surpassed $200 million globally. The film continues to draw audiences with its epic showdown between the iconic monsters.

As Monkey Man and The First Omen enter the box office arena alongside Godzilla v Kong, moviegoers can expect a diverse range of cinematic experiences catering to different demographics and genres.
