Detroit police probe how Lions’ Jameson Williams avoided arrest for gun in car

Jameson Williams of the Detroit Lions crossed NFL authorities and got a two-game suspension for Performance Enhancing Substances.

The Lions wideout found trouble with the actual law two weeks before, per a report from WXYZ.com.

The investigation details how Williams was in his car with his brother when it was pulled over by Detroit police. The wideout’s brother told law enforcement officials there were two guns in the car.

The brother had a concealed pistol license for the gun in the backseat. However, there wasn’t one for the one under the seat of Jameson Williams.

WXYZ has a detailed report of what took place that has led to an investigation by Detroit police.

Per WXYZ:

Prompted by questions from 7 News Detroit, Detroit police launched an internal affairs investigation into the stop and the decision not to arrest the Lions wide receiver.

“(Chief James White) was very unhappy about the totality of the circumstances here. Even to go so far as to say he was pissed off,” Commander McGinnis said.

In addition to telling officer multiple times he played for the Detroit Lions, Jameson Williams said, “I got the gun for protection,” Williams said. “Do you guys know where I live at? Detroit!”

Here is what Williams had to say about his PES suspension:

“This week I was notified by the NFL that I have been suspended for a violation of the Performance Enhancing Substances Policy,” Williams, 23, said in a statement shared on social media by his agent, Rocky Arceneaux. “I don’t take supplements or vitamins and I am overly cautious about even taking over-the-counter medicine. At no time have I ever taken something in an attempt to cheat or look for an unfair advantage. I understand that I am responsible for everything that goes into my body and I have to take accountability in this instance.”
