Officials in Detroit, Michigan, have clarified that there is no new police activity in the city related to the elections, despite claims made by former President Donald Trump. The Detroit Department of Elections spokesperson stated that they are not aware of any additional police presence beyond what was previously announced and widely reported.
The Detroit mayor's office also confirmed that they have no knowledge of the law enforcement activity mentioned by Trump. The former President had posted on Truth Social about heavy law enforcement presence in Philadelphia and Detroit, alleging election-related issues.
However, a bipartisan group of Philadelphia officials has already dismissed Trump's claims of widespread cheating as unfounded. In Detroit, the chief operating officer for the city's elections emphasized that there have been no changes in the security measures at the main counting center for absentee ballots.
The city of Detroit had established a comprehensive security plan in collaboration with local and federal law enforcement agencies to ensure the safety of election workers and maintain the integrity of the election process. This plan has been in place since early voting counting began and will continue through election night.
