Detroit Lions hero rubs salt in Green Bay Packers wounds by rushing home to play Pokémon

Detroit Lions star Jamaal Williams always makes for an entertaining interview, and he's added insult to injury after leading his side to victory over the Green Bay Packers.

The running-back scored two touchdowns in a 20-16 win over the Packers, ending their season prematurely as defeat meant they were eliminated from playoff contention. The Packers simply had to win to make the post-season, but they were stopped by the Lions who had already been eliminated earlier in the day.

Williams was drafted by the Packers back in 2017, but joined the Lions in 2021 - and has ended up stopping his former employers in brutal fashion. But to add insult to injury he didn't seem bothered after the game, and wanted to rush back home to play Pokémon.

As a former Packers player, Williams was flooded with questions about how it felt to stop his former team, and whether there were any hard feelings. But Williams didn't seem interested in the locker room, as he told reporters they were keeping him from 'playing Pokémon.

There has been a lot of tension between the Packers and the Lions, which is common due to the fact they're divisional rivals. But this season has been more charged up than most after Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers riled up Lions fans back in November.

The Lions had a 1-6 record when facing the Packers back then, but beat them 15-9 to cause a huge upset. Rodgers claimed post-game: "We can't be losing like that against that team."

This of course didn't go down well, and it's unsurprising that the Lions were so keen to have the last laugh at Lambeau Field on Sunday. But all Williams wanted to do after beating his former team was to go home and play video games.

When being asked about the beef between the two sides, Williams said: "I don't watch TV, I don't care, I just want to play football and go home. But you're (reporters) holding me right now, I just want to go home and play Pokémon."

However, Williams did seem to care on the field, as he burst into tears when being interviewed. Williams was emotional as his great grandfather had passed away, and he was proud after setting a new franchise record for touchdowns in a single season.

Williams' two touchdowns put him at 17 for the season, surpassing the previous Lions record of 16 in a single campaign. And the running-back is proud to be a Lion, as he switched from tears to talking trash within seconds.

"Stop playing with us man," Williams shouted. "Don’t let these tears fool you. We’re the Detroit Lions."
