Detectives on scene of Paisley rape as patrols stepped up in park

Police have stepped up patrols after a woman was raped in a Paisley park at the weekend.

Detectives were on the scene yesterday after the 44-year-old woman says she was attacked as she walked through Durrockstock Park around 9pm.

Officers moved to reassure the public they are working to trace the man, believed to be in his 50s, the Paisley Daily Express reports.

Detective Inspector Alex Allardyce is leading the investigation, he said: "Officers are carrying out enquiries to trace the man responsible and would ask anyone who may have seen anything suspicious or concerning in the area at the time to please get in touch.

"We would like to reassure locals that additional patrols are in place."

The park was sealed off to the public following the incident on Saturday night.
