Detectives hunt man who 'stroked leg of 12-year-old girl' on London bus

Detectives have re-released an image of a man they want to trace after a sexual assault on a schoolgirl on an east London bus.

The investigation has drawn a blank after an initial appeal following the incident on a 212 bus in Walthamstow on September 26, 2023.

The 12-year-old got on the bus at 8.15am on Fulbourne Road.

It is alleged that the suspect sat next to the victim and asked sexual questions before stroking her leg.

Officers have trawled through CCTV and are now re-circulating an image of a man they wish to trace and speak to in connection with the alleged offence.

The man was described as wearing a black baseball cap worn backwards and what appears to be a leather jacket.

He is a black man in his sixties with a black and grey short beard.

Superintendent Charles Clare, from the local policing team in north east London, said: "I am appealing to the public for information on who this man might be as we wish to speak to him about the incident that took place on the 212 bus.

“We believe the suspect is aged in his 60s and we are working to urgently identify him. Anyone who can help us find the man in the image should contact us immediately."

Anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting CAD 2416/26SEP23

To remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
