Detained at home during PM’s DU visit, say AISA activists

The All India Students Association, a Left students outfit, has alleged that two student activists were detained by the police for three hours – at their residence near the Delhi University’s North Campus – during Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to the varsity for the closing day of its centenary celebrations.

Several Delhi University colleges had issued certain guidelines in the wake of the visit on Friday, such as no black dresses, compulsory attendance, and suspension of classes from 10 am to 12 pm. A notice by the Hindu College said students who attend the event will get attendance equivalent to five classes while institutes such as Ramjas, Miranda and Kirorimal Colleges said attendance was not mandatory.
