Quinnen Williams is secured with the Jets for the next five seasons after agreeing to a four-year extension worth $96 million. Thanks to Pro Football Talk, we now know the details of his contract and his cap hits over the next five seasons.
Williams gets a $24.5 million signing bonus that can be spread out across the five years of the contract for salary cap purposes ($4.9 million per year).
His base salary for 2023 will be $1.094 million, the minimum, but the signing bonus obviously helps offset that. Per PFT, the signing bonus will be paid out in three installments: $11 million by July 31, $4.5 million by September 30 and $9 million by March 31, 2024.
That means his cap hit for 2023 has been reduced to about $6.4 million, down from $9.5 million. He also gets $500,000 in per-game roster bonuses.
His 2024 salary of $14.4 million and his per-game roster bonus of $1.1 million are also fully guaranteed. He will count $20.4 million against the cap in 2024.
The rest of his up-front guaranteed money of $47.835 million comes from $6.241 million of his $15.65 million 2025 base salary. The rest of his 2025 compensation (including $1.1 million in per-game roster bonus) and $5 million of his $20.75 million base salary for 2026 become fully guaranteed in March 2025.
Another $2.656 million for 2026 fully guarantees in March 2026. He is also set to make $1 million in per-game roster bonus.
His 2025 cap hit is $21.65 million and his 2026 cap hit is $26.65 million.
Finally, in 2027, he will make $25.4 million in base salary and $100,000 in per-game roster bonus.
As a note, if Williams misses games, he does not get the respective game payment.
So to recap Williams’ cap hits:
2023 – $6,435,165
2024 – $20,400,000
2025 – $21,650,000
2026 – $26,650,000
