Details of Ivana Trump's funeral released and Donald could go alone without Melania

Ivana Trump’s funeral is set to be held this week, although it is unknown if ex-husband Donald Trump will attend to say his final goodbyes.

The 73-year-old former model and businesswoman died when she fell down the stairs of her Manhattan home last week.

Her funeral is set to be held on Wednesday at a Catholic church in the Upper East Side of New York City.

Sources told the New York Post mourners are set to fly in from Europe to pay their last respects.

An invitation requested those attending to make a donation to a local dog rescue centre instead of sending flowers.

It is unclear if Donald Trump - her second husband and ex-President of the US - will be attending but if he does he is expected to leave wife Melania at home.

A source told the New York Post: “Donald talked to her regularly and sent flowers on every birthday and other occasions.

“I’m told he’s very upset.”

Last week the New York City Medical Examiner’s Office ruled her death as accidental.

In the wake of the tragedy several members of her family and close friends paid tribute to the matriarch.

Donald Trump announced her death on his own social media channel Truth Social as he is indefinitely banned from Twitter.

He wrote: “I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City

“She was a wonderful, beautiful, and amazing woman, who led a great and inspirational life.

“Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr, Ivanka, and Eric.

“She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest In Peace, Ivana.”

The tragedy occurred the day before she was to take a trip to St Tropez with a friend.

It was earlier reported she seemed fatigued and did not order her usual amount of food at her favourite restaurant, Altesi Ristorante, hours before being found dead at the bottom of a staircase .

The owner added she “appeared in good spirits, she was also more fatigued than usual.”

A statement from the Trump family read: “Our mother was an incredible woman — a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend.

“Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country.

“She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination.”

Born Ivana Marie Zelníčkováin in former Czechoslovakia, she lived under communist rule before moving to Canada in the 1970s, where she briefly worked as a model.
