Details of CB Tavon Young’s contract with Bears

The Chicago Bears have found a new cornerback in Tavon Young, who figures to serve as the starting nickelback heading into the 2022 season.

Young fills a big hole at slot corner, which was a huge area of weakness last year. While Young has the potential to be a huge asset in the slot, there are some injury concerns. He’s torn the same ACL twice and suffered a neck injury that forced him to miss an entire season. But his upside makes him a low-risk, high-reward signing.

Details of Young’s contract have emerged, and it’s a favorable one. Young gets a one-year deal worth $1.365 million with $650,000 guaranteed, according to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson. Young also gets a signing bonus of $150,000 and gets a base salary of $965,000 with $500,000 fully guaranteed.

When healthy, Young has been productive in the slot. He figures to be the favorite to win the starting nickelback job heading into the 2022 season. Young joins a cornerback group that includes Jaylon Johnson, Thomas Graham Jr., Kindle Vildor and Duke Shelley.
