After nearly a decade of fans saying Destiny 2 is dead, it finally happened: Bungie is shipping the game’s last update. It’s a colossal one, with longstanding fan requests, major refreshes, heaps of cosmetics, and just enough of a hint of Destiny 3 to keep players coping.
“While our love for Destiny 2 has not changed, it has become clear that after The Final Shape, we have reached the time for our shared worlds, and Destiny, to live beyond Destiny 2,” the studio wrote on a blog post today.
The news comes after a catastrophic performance post-The Final Shape and the delay of its Shadow & Order update in February. The game has been on a monumental decline, especially since the universally reviled The Edge of Fate released last July.
