Before Spider-Man: Brand New Day hit the big screen, Tom Holland says there were multiple cuts of the new Marvel movie, including one he really didn't like.
"What's really interesting is, we've seen loads of different cuts of this movie," said the Peter Parker star to Quotable. "One of the cuts was, they took all of the notes from all of the random people that saw the film, and they changed the movie. And then, we watched it, and we hated it."
Holland didn't disclose what was exactly different about the cut, but added, "It totally didn’t work. And it's what the people were asking for, but it wasn't quite what we wanted as the creatives. But they learned lessons from that experience. So, a movie can change in a thousand different ways in the edit room."
Luckily, Sony listened to Holland, as Spider-Man: Brand New Day is already a hit with critics and audiences alike. Brand New Day currently stands at a near-perfect 91% on Rotten Tomatoes, and is on track to debut to one of the MCU's biggest box office openings yet.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day picks up four years after Doctor Strange wiped the world's memory of Spider-Man's true identity, and finds the hero at his lowest point yet. But when a villain that no one can see starts to torment New York City, he must pull himself out of his slump and once again save the day. The movie welcomes back Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, and adds Mark Ruffalo's Hulk, Jon Bernthal's Punisher, and Sadie Sink in a mystery role.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day is out in UK cinemas now, and hits theatres in the US on July 31.
