Despite making three Rangers appearances, I've steered my club to a shock EPL result

Former Rangers star Matt Crooks played a key part in Hull City's opening-day Premier League win over Manchester United.

The 32-year-old midfielder spent just one season with the Ibrox side during the 2016/17 season, then under the management of Mark Warburton.

Joining on the same day as fellow Accrington Stanley player Josh Windass, the towering Englishman was touted as an exciting up-and-coming talent, as Rangers returned to the Scottish Premiership after four years in the lower divisions.

However, Crooks would only make three appearances in all competitions for his new side before heading out on loan to Scunthorpe United on loan midway through the season.

He would move on to Northampton Town the following summer on a permanent deal, before fruitful spells at Rotherham United and Middlesbrough, respectively. In the case of the latter, he made over 100 appearances in all competitions for the English Championship side.

After a single season at MLS side Real Salt Lake, he returned to England with Hull City, where he gained promotion to the Premier League via the play-offs in his second season.

At the age of 32, he made his EPL debut, playing all 90 minutes as the Tigers defeated Michael Carrick's Manchester United at the MKM Stadium.
