This picture shows the true desperation parents in Ukraine are facing.
Sasha Makoviy scrawled her daughter’s details on to her two-year-old daughter's back in case she died in the horrific conflict. She wanted to ensure that rescuers could reunite Vira with family as Russian forces closed in on Kyiv.
She said: “I thought if I would die she could find who she is and from what family she’s come. Maybe to find some familiar people who could take care of her, reports the Mirror.

“I decided to put the information on Vira’s back because I was really scared. She is the most precious thing in my life so I couldn’t imagine if we lost each other.”
Sasha wrote Vira’s name, date of birth and family phone numbers on her skin as the pair prepared to flee their Kyiv home on the first day of the Russian invasion, amid fears the capital would be taken. She also placed a hand-written card in her daughter’s jacket, with similar details.
Speaking of the moment she scribbled on Vira in pen, Sasha added “I was shaking so much that all the words were horribly written. But it’s so strange that in the 21st century I have to do this kind of thing.
“It’s unbelievable. It’s so horrible.”
Meanwhile, the humanitarian situation in the Ukrainian city of Mariupol is worsening and 160,000 people are trapped there without water or other essentials, while fighting and airstrikes continue.
That's the grim assessment being made by the UK's Ministry of Defence (MoD) this morning. In an intelligence update issued at 5.35am this morning, the MoD said: "Heavy fighting and Russian airstrikes have continued in the encircled city of Mariupol. The humanitarian situation in the city is worsening.
"Most of the 160,000 remaining residents have no light, communication, medicine, heat or water. Russian forces have prevented humanitarian access, likely to pressure defenders to surrender."
