A desperate mother is said to have plunged into the sea in a frantic bid to save her teenage daughter after the youngster was dragged away by a freak three-metre wave.
Rescue crews mounted a major operation when the group vanished beneath the water near Withernsea off the East Yorkshire coast on Friday afternoon.
