Sofia Vergara is used to influencing trends in the fashion world – but when it comes to her interiors, her design decisions have the power to impress in the next century.
Sharing an outfit pic, the actress, known for Modern Family, offered followers a look at her white kitchen – complete with off-white walls, cabinets, chairs, and accessories. Aside from the caramel-hued wooden floor, Sofia's kitchen is almost entirely all-white (or off-white): a tone three designers say will look just as stylish in 100 years.
'Ensuring her kitchen will remain a timeless classic, Sophia Vergara has opted for raised paneled double trimmed kitchen cabinetry; in an eternally tasteful French white hue mixed with Carrera Marble countertops and backsplash,' says designer Charmaine Wynter. 'This space hits all the luxury buttons.'
As mentioned, Charmaine is not alone in her love for this eternal tone – but what makes a white kitchen so ageless? Designer Artem Kropovinsky says its success comes from its versatility.
'At first glance, white cabinets may come across as subdued, yet their innate sophistication ensures they blend seamlessly into any decor story,' he says.
'The magic of white lies in its ability to resonate with a spectrum of hues, from the deepest blacks to the softest pastels. White isn't merely a backdrop; it uplifts. It's this very charm that makes us believe that even a hundred years down the line, these cabinets will hold their revered spot in interiors.'
Similarly, Artem adds that white walls, countertops, and kitchen cabinets allow us to incorporate our personality through more subtle yet impactful accents and accessories, including vases and ornate china, as Sofia demonstrates.
'Instead of restricting or setting the tone for a room, white cabinets serve as an open slate. They invite homeowners and designers alike to leave their distinctive mark, whether through unique handles, standout counters, or eye-catching wall tiles,' he says.
Designer Ksenya Malina agrees: 'White kitchens have always been and will always be timeless. The color is a blank slate for making your kitchen as modern or traditional as suits your taste,' she comments.
'White can serve as the perfect background for featuring accents like natural wood flooring, veined marble countertops, intriguing backsplash tile, as well as special fixtures like vintage lighting or hand-forged hardware.'
Whether we go more traditional like Sofia Vergara or opt for more modern, industrial hardware, we can rest assured that our space will continue to impress for not only seasons – but decades – to come.
