Irish designer Paul Costelloe has said Irish homeowners make the same mistakes when it comes to getting interior decor right.
Costelloe, who has a signature range in Dunnes Stores, says clutter is the biggest mistake people make and advises people on how to avoid having everything on display.
He told RSVP Live that avoiding clutter is key when creating a chic space and said, "my advice would be to pick out things that you really like – be selective and keep it co-ordinated."

"Don’t clutter, don’t have everything on display. Keep to colours like grey, cream, white and natural colours, especially in bed linen.
"If it is floral, just have a little bit of floral, not too much."
Paul says soft furnishings are an easy way to add interest to a room.
"Cushions are great for making a room a little more exciting," he went on.
"When it comes to carpets, I generally like rugs edge to edge, rather than a full carpet. It gives more space and a little more comfort. I would also say you should change up your interiors every three or four months, even just the layout of the room. It helps to reinvigorate the space."
Paul's pet peeve is blank walls or bland prints, and he encourages people to buy original art if they can.
"Original paintings also make a huge difference, and they don’t have to cost a fortune. I see so many walls where they just buy prints or they don’t have anything on the walls! Even in swish offices! When I see that I just go 'Come on, let’s be a bit more creative than that.'
"There are so many artists in Ireland, there is so much talent. You could get a nice wall painting for €200/300, that can give you magic. You’re also giving an artist a living."
Paul Costelloe Living is an exclusive interiors and home collection available at Dunnes Stores.
