When speaking to reporters on Tuesday morning, Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson made it clear he’d love if his former teammate DeAndre Hopkins joined him in Cleveland.
The two were teammates with the Texans and both are Clemson alums, but Watson explained that the two have been friends since the signal-caller was coming out of high school and the two have regularly spoken ever since—including now, as the wide receiver explores his options as a free agent.
“I know it’s a lot of things swirling around in the media, you know, [about] him possibly coming to Cleveland,” Watson said. “For me, my answer to that is of course we’d love to have him. He knows that.”

In a shocking move on Friday, the Cardinals released Hopkins after months of trade rumors swirled online. The five-time All-Pro bid farewell to Arizona and is now looking for a new home, but it’s unclear where he’s leaning toward.
He only appeared in nine games this past season after serving a six-game suspension to start the year for violating the league’s performance-enhancing drugs policy. In those nine appearances, he tallied 64 catches for 717 yards and three touchdowns.
