Florida Governor Ron DeSantis announced on Thursday that state Attorney General Ashley Moody will fill Marco Rubio's seat in the U.S. Senate once he gets confirmed to be Secretary of State in the Donald Trump administration.
"This is a time for action, and a time for Washington D.C. to deliver results to the American people" in a press conference in Orlando. He added that Moody has a "demonstrated record of delivering results." She beat other candidates including Lara Trump, who had openly pitched herself for the job and resigned from her post as co-chair of the Republican National Committee in the process.
