Derry Girls star Saoirse-Monica Jackson's real life leading man is Scots DJ Denis Sulta

Liam Neeson's surprise appearance in the first episode of the new Derry Girls got everyone talking.

Even star Saoirse Monica Jackson was so excited by the cameo that she posted a snap of her and the acting legend on Instagram.

The 28-year-old hailed the day they filmed together an "absolute belter" as she proudly shared the photo of the two actors posing together with her 285k followers.

But there's one leading man in Derry-born Saoirse's real life that is her true belter.

And he's none other than renowned Scottish electronic DJ Denis Sulta.

Glasgow Sub Club regular Denis, real name Hector Barbour, is a rising star across the global dance scene, with hundreds of thousands of followers across his social media platforms.

Referring to his other half affectionately as his "girl from across the water" his Instagram grid is full of loved-up snaps of talented Saoirse, and vice versa.

The pair went public with their relationship in September 2021 and since then they've been enjoying the high life together, much to the delight of their army of fans.

A slew of snaps from a luxury holiday to Mexico over New Year got everyone swooning as the happy young couple posed up a storm at the exclusive Tulum México Ruinas Mayas.

Sharing a snap of her beau looking happy on the Caribbean coastline, Saoirse simply said: "HUNKY NEW YEAR EVERYONE"

In the picture, the Glaswegian was flashing his abs and enjoying a drink in a pair of stylish swimming trunks by the sea.

More snaps from the trip showed them lapping up the sunshine on the beach and heading out for dinner together.

But it seems Denis' love affair with the Channel 4 star could have started anytime ovver the past few years, as he's been championing her famous hometown for a while now.

Back in 2017, a young Denis tweeted after a gig in the historical Northern Irish city: "Derry, is the best place in the whole intire world. Not sorry, it's true. Stephen Porter. Sound. Bouncers. Sound. Crowd. Enthusiastic."

Saoirse is of course back on screens this week as Derry Girls finally made its long-awaited comeback for its third and final series.

She plays Erin Quinn in the hugely popular show, which also stars stars Nicola Coughlan, Louisa Harland, Jamie-Lee O’Donnell and Dylan Llewellyn.

The cast have become household names thanks to Lisa McGee's award-winning, candid comedy.

And this week viewers were over the moon to see them joined by Hollywood star Liam Neeson.

The 69-year-old played a police inspector who is sent in to find the truth after a burglary took place at the school.

He delighted fans as he grilled characters Clare, Erin, Orla, Michelle and James about the crime.

The tale is set to come to an end after this series, but fans tuning into the show yesterday were shocked to see the Taken star in his shock cameo.

Well you could have knocked me down with a feather when Liam Neeson made his appearance in the new #DerryGirls!" one fan penned.

A second added: "Did I just see Liam Neeson as a hot police inspector #DerryGirls."

Saoirse previously revealed she used to lie about her job to an ex-boyfriend before she landed the iconic role.

"I was living with my boyfriend and I was lying to him telling him that I had a sales job in town," she told Kevin McGahern on RTÉ.

"He was dropping me into town everyday to an office block and I would run around the corner and get into a car and sell Hello Fresh door to door."
