Derry Girls fans have been left stunned after discovering Saoirse-Monica Jackson's surprise boyfriend. The 28-year-old star, best known for playing loudmouth Erin Quinn in the Channel 4 comedy series, is dating Scottish electronic DJ Denis Sulta.
Saoirse and Denis started publicly dating last September - but it's caused a stir online after a new post on Twitter gave a mention to the 'random celeb couple', reported The Mirror. Some loyal viewers were surprised to see who the Northern Irish actress was dating after she kept it relatively under wraps.
“There are some random celebrity couples out there but Denis Sulta and Erin from Derry Girls takes the cake,” a viral tweet read, prompting plenty of confused replies from Saoirse’s fans.
“My head is gone. Why did I not know this,” one replied, as another added: “Wait what??” “How did I not know this?? WTF,” one baffled fan asked.
“Hahahahahah, why did I never know this,” another tweeted, while one agreed: “Hahaha what in the world.” “Nahhh that’s mad,” one of her followers replied. “How did I miss that one?” another added.
Denis - real name Hector Barbour - has been dubbed a "prodigal producer" by industry critics, and recently joined BBC Radio 1’s Residency show alongside Jayda G, HAAi, and Charlotte de Witte.
Saoirse and Denis made their relationship Instagram official with a sweet picture shared back in September. However, the actress was left red-faced as many thought the snap was an engagement picture, due to Denis being on one knee.
“DISCLAIMER - NOOOOO.... This is not an engagement photo people He just had a long day on his feet,” she added in the comments.
The couple later jetted off to the exclusive Tulum México Ruinas Mayas to celebrate ringing in the New Year, indulging in cocktails and glorious sunsets on the romantic trip.
“Hunky New Year,” she cheekily captioned on a picture of Denis sat topless in the sea.
Referring to his other half affectionately as his "girl from across the water," Denis's Instagram grid is also full of loved-up snaps of the pair.
But it seems Denis' love affair with the Channel 4 star could have started anytime over the past few years, as he's been championing her famous hometown for a while now.
Back in 2017, a young Denis tweeted after a gig in the historical Northern Irish city: "Derry, is the best place in the whole entire world. Not sorry, it's true. Stephen Porter. Sound. Bouncers. Sound. Crowd. Enthusiastic."
