Derren Brown's 'Showman' stuns Liverpool Empire theatre into silence

I wish I could tell you what happened last night at Derren Brown’s ‘Showman’, but I’ve been sworn to secrecy by Derren himself.

What I can tell you, is that I’ve never watched anything so captivating, mesmerising and utterly flabbergasting in my life. His opening night at the Liverpool Empire theatre set the bar high for his remaining four days in Liverpool.

If you’ve been lucky enough to snap up some tickets, all I can say is be prepared. Derren, mentalist and illusionist, has an overwhelming force over the audience that can’t be put into words.

The magic of the show is the fact that you really don’t know what to expect. I’d say this particular show isn’t as dark as his previous shows, but it still triggers a real range of emotions.

You may laugh, you may even cry, but one thing’s for sure, you’ll definitely be stunned into silence. At some points, my mouth gaped open from utter disbelief, but I won’t share why, because that would ruin the beauty of it.

Everything from the lights, the music, and Derren’s unbelievable stage presence makes his show one that will stick in your mind forever. Verging on two and a half hours, ‘Showman’ will keep you transfixed from the off.

As soon as I entered the theatre, there was an ominous atmosphere that didn’t leave until the end. Although some parts of the show were unnerving, Derren’s impeccable showmanship added reassuring warmth and charisma.

The show will take you to places you’ve never been before. It’s more about you personally and not just about members of the audience that participate. Derren will delve into your mind and make you think.

Of course, the exact details of the show can’t be revealed, but you’ll be left thinking about it as soon as you leave the venue. There’s still tickets available for the Liverpool show to purchase here , priced from £23.90.
