Dermot O'Leary calls Alison Hammond his 'scream Queen' with on-stage NTA snap after fans complain she was 'robbed'

Dermot O'Leary was seen taking a moment to grab a photo while he was on stage with his This Morning co-stars at the National Television Awards. And he's actually shared the moment he captured on Instagram while paying tribute to his 'scream Queen' Alison Hammond.

The pair, who host the ITV daytime show on a Friday and during the half-term and summer breaks, took to the stage alongside Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield, and more of the This Morning cast and crew as they picked up the Daytime gong at the awards bash for the fifth year in a row.

Phillip Schofield thanked viewers up on stage, saying: "This means so much to us every year, especially this year." It comes after the presenter and his co-host Holly Willoughby faced criticism over the past couple of weeks following claims they skipped the queue for the Queen’s lying in state.

The ITV show saw off competition from Loose Women, The Chase and The Repair Shop to take home the award on Thursday eveing (October 13) during the ceremony held at London’s OVO Wembley Arena. Collecting the award, Phillip, 60, said: "Don’t think we ever get complacent and please don’t think we ever take this for granted. This means so much to us every year, especially this year.

"We have the most amazing team. I have the best friend, we have the best boss." Holly, 41, added: "Thank you so much, this award means everything because it is voted by you, and I think This Morning has a very special relationship with you. You make our show for us, you really do."

Phillip also invited Alison to the mic after she missed out on a solo gong. She said she was "grateful" for the award, but that she felt she should have won in the TV presenter category instead of Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly. She said: “I ain’t going to lie but we all know I should have won one of these as well. Bradley Walsh, Graham Norton and the legends that are Ant and Dec are amazing, but let’s be honest, I should have won one but This Morning won one anyways."

Taking to Instagram afterwards, Dermot shared the photo he took on stage as Alison gave her brief speech while the show's resident vet Dr Scott held on to his adorable dog and soap Queen Sharon Marshall posed for the camera. "Congrats to one hell of a team. @thismorning," the 49-year-old typed. "And my screen Queen @alisonhammond55."

Alison, 47, also shared a black and white photo fo the pair posing on the red carpet. As Alison beamed, Dermot posed and pointed towards his co-star. "Congratulations @thismorning another NTA Wow Wow Wow!!" Alison shared. "Thank you to each and everyone of you who voted! This is for a incredible team who work all the hours to bring you a fantastic show!

"See you at 10 ITV 1 . Ps thanks for my personal votes to for best presenter, having a seat at the table was incredible. Thank you for making me feel so loved. You support was truly felt."

But viewers did feel like Alison was 'robbed' as Ant and Dec's winning streak continued. @jodehgwillz said: "I don’t HATE Ant and Dec, but… really? Our Alison was robbed #NTAs." @liamandrews123 commented: "Disappointment is a understatement, ALISON WAS ROBBED #ntas." @djrustynail posted: "Alison was robbed. #NTAs just renamed this the Ant & Dec award. #NTAAwards."
