Erik ten Hag is searching for a new right-back this summer, and Denzel Dumfries is one names to have been frequently linked with a Manchester United move.
Diogo Dalot has shown his credentials in pre-season by putting in solid shifts but with Aaron Wan-Bissaka up for sale, the club is short on back-up options ahead of the new season. It has been evident this summer that Ten Hag requires his full-backs to bomb up the flank and support their wingers.
Dalot has done a good job in carrying out his offensive duties but United are still on the hunt for a new full-back. Dumfries showcased his capabilities while at former club PSV in the Eredivisie, so he is a player ex-Ajax boss Ten Hag knows a lot about.

He has been backed to succeed at United, if brought in, by former Scotland right-back Alan Hutton. He outlined how Dumfries has already shown he would fit into Ten Hag’s philosophy.
Speaking to Football Insider, Hutton said: “He’s [Dumfries] definitely attacking, he loves to get forward. We saw it in the Euros with Holland, he’s an outlet, and that is the way Ten Hag wants to play.
“He’s been brought up in that mould of the Dutch football, the passing, the movement, the working hard. I think he could come in and hit the ground running. That’s the way he wants to play football so it would be a good match.“
