Denver Broncos wide receiver Josh Reynolds is currently recuperating from two gunshot wounds sustained in an incident that took place last week in Denver. The Broncos confirmed that Reynolds was a victim of a shooting and received treatment for minor injuries. The team has chosen to refrain from further comments on the matter, deferring to the authorities.
The Denver police have arrested two individuals, Luis Mendoza, 35, and Burr Charlesworth, 42, in connection with the shootings that occurred along a stretch of Interstate 25 south of downtown. The men are being held for investigation of attempted first-degree murder and first-degree assault. Additional suspects are being sought, and arrest reports have been sealed to safeguard the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
According to reports, Reynolds was shot once in his left arm and once in the back of his head after leaving a strip club called Shotgun Willies. The incident transpired in the early hours of the morning following the Broncos' victory over the Saints.
Reynolds, who is currently on injured reserve due to a broken finger, did not travel with the team for their game in New Orleans. He has been participating in workouts on a side field during the team's practices this week. Players on injured reserve are not available for media interviews.
The veteran wide receiver is in his ninth NFL season and first with the Denver Broncos after signing a two-year, $9 million contract last offseason. Reynolds has appeared in five games with one start, amassing 12 receptions for 183 yards and a touchdown. Prior to joining the Broncos, he played for the Detroit Lions, Tennessee Titans, and Los Angeles Rams.
