Hopes for a new job quickly turned into a nightmare for a woman allegedly sexually abused in a Sydney dentistry clinic.
Rockdale dentist Maged Fouad Farag is behind bars after being accused of sexually touching the woman during a job trial at his clinic.
The woman, who cannot be identified, reported the incident to police on September 10, leading to the dentist's arrest on Thursday.
Farag was charged with aggravated sexual touching as well as causing a person to take an intoxicating substance in order to commit a serious offence.
Court records indicate the 60-year-old, who enjoys glowing online reviews, was refused bail in court the following day.
No pleas have been entered to either charge.
The case is not due to return to court for eight weeks.
Online reviews paint Dr Farag as polite, professional and gentle with patients.
He holds a Bachelor of Dental Surgery from Cairo University and sat dental exams in Australia in 1996, operating here since.
His clinic Brite Smiles on Tuesday declined to discuss the matter, with a receptionist saying she had understood the matter would not be reported on.
The remanded dentist's registration remained unconditional on Tuesday.
