Yesterday, one of the most vibrant (and visually stunning, might I add) indie games of the year released – and now, just one day later, it's proving to be one of the most impressive launches of 2026 yet.
In case you've not heard of Denshattack! (yes, exclamation mark and all), It's a colorful mashup of Tony Hawk and Jet Set Radio vibes. Players take on the role of a… erm, train, riding through a dystopian Japanese cityscape. The gameplay is fast, fierce, and refreshing, giving folks almost no time to take a breath between rails – in the best way possible.
Steam ratings support this, too, with "Very Positive" reviews so far. In fact, it's under the "Popular New Releases" page on Valve's platform, and it's currently sitting in the list of the top 10 best-selling games right now, too.
That's not all, either – as a Reddit roundup of Denshattack! reviews highlights, critics are enjoying the action-packed indie gem as well. Data over on Metacritic shows it's got an average score of 88, placing it on the website's list of "Best Games This Year," right behind Resident Evil Requiem.
