Denise Welch consoled by Loose Women co-stars as she breaks down over dad's death

Denise Welch was consoled by her Loose Women co-stars as she cried over her dad's death.

The TV star appeared on the panel today alongside Jane Moore, Christine Lampard and Katie Piper as Denise marked a year since her father passed away. She broke down in tears as she explained how she wanted the day to be positive.

She described her plan to make the day a "special" one rather than one of sadness. She expressed the importance of turning these negative moments into positive ones as she cried over the loss of her father Vin.

Speaking about the loss of her dad, she said: "It's a special day. And I'm trying to flip the narrative. Because today is a year - here we go, I said I'd be alright - today is a year since my dad died. I am trying to flip the narrative and I want it to be a celebration of a life well lived because nobody who knew my dad or knew of my dad could ever say he didn't live his life."

Later, Denise cried again as she admitted her dad was the only person who never judged her.

"My dad was the only person in the world who never judged me. There was no judgement no matter what I did. And I deserved to be judged, but I felt I lost the person who never judged me," she said through tears.

Fans and viewers rushed to social media to pay tribute to Denise's strength, as they opened up about their own grief.

"Death grief is the worst part of life #LooseWomen," one wrote, whilst another added: "this is sad, anniversaries are always hard no matter how long it's been." A third shared: "Sending Love to Denise, we share your grief this year as Dad passed in March."

Another viewer added: "Can totally sympathise with Denise talking about her dad as I know exactly how it feels. My dad was the only person who made me feel like I was important I loved him so much. #daddysgirl #LooseWomen."

"Grief is never easy. I lost my Dad almost 6 yrs ago and my brother almost 11 yrs ago. Never easy #loosewomen," a fifth fan penned.

Denise previously opened up about the loss she felt, explaining how it had changed her perspective on life, as she said: "When I lost my dad, it changed my perspective on things. I decided I didn’t have a very good work/life balance.

"My dad was somebody who filled every single minute of his 84 years. I want to carry on that family tradition."
