Denise Van Outen ’s cheating ex Eddie Boxshall cruelly mocked the star’s detective skills after she discovered his infidelity.
The 47-year-old dumped the former commodities trader - who had appeared alongside Denise on Celebrity Gogglebox - when she found out he’d been messaging other women for months behind her back.
The stage and TV star detailed Eddie’s affairs in her new book, A Bit Of Me: From Basildon To Broadway And Back, as she alleged he had stolen her phone to block a woman he had been sexting.
Denise has spoken publicly about how her seven-year romance with Eddie came to an abrupt end when she discovered he had been cheating on her, and he’s fired back at her claims with cryptic posts on social media.
On Sunday, he alluded to Denise’s detective skills, and said he was “defending himself” by attempting to clear up any untruths.
Sharing a black-and-white picture of the inept Pink Panther detective Inspector Clouseau, Eddie wrote: “Inspector Clouseau………. The 2nd worst detective in the world !!! [sic] #2sides #holdinghandsup #butdefendingmyself #keepprivatelifeprivate #nolongerbeingcontrolled.”
The 48-year-olds’ caption led many of his followers to speculate he had aimed the vicious caption at ex Denise, and when one of his fans left a comment regarding her book, Eddie wasted no time in seemingly accusing her of cashing in on their split.
“Someone selling a book,” they asked, prompting him to reply with a book and a bag of money emoji.
“Don't listen to the noise. No one buys it, especially when someone's driven to sell books,” another wrote, with Eddie leaving a prayer emoji in response.
Denise said she was devastated upon discovering the truth about Eddie’s affairs, including his efforts to conceal his infidelities.
She said there were Instagram messages alluding to “phone sex” with one woman, while messages on his iPad revealed he had also been in touch with others.
Denise tried to get in contact with one of them, and believes Eddie had used her phone to block the women on her Instagram account so they didn’t expose his cheating.
“They'd never met in person, but she said the conversations had become sexual in nature reasonably quickly - some of the stuff I found on the phone seemed to support that,” Denise said of one of Eddie’s mistresses.
Despite the heartache, she’s moving on with her life, and said she has “no hard feelings” towards her ex.
“I'm feeling really good now because I wasn't in a good place, it was all a bit of a shock. These things happen. I'm not the first person it's happened to and I won't be the last, sadly,” she told Lorraine recently.
