Denise van Outen forced to make emotional change to biography after Eddie Boxshall split

Denise van Outen was forced to scrap the ending of her biography after her split from Eddie Boxshall.

The pair ended their romance last year amid rumours that her fiancé had been sending messages to other women, but Denise had to make another tough decision at the time, binning some of her biography.

Denise wrote a lot of her biography, A Bit Of Me, during lockdown, when she was living with her then-fiancé, and so when the pair decided to go their separate ways, Denise decided it would be best to re-write some of the book as she wanted to be honest.

"I think it was the toughest thing for me [to rewrite the end]. The book is very upbeat and I've had some incredible work experiences, and I cover a lot of the 90s - all the hedonistic days, it's all in there," she said on The One Show tonight.

"The book was supposed to come out last November and at that time, when it was about to come out, I found out everything that had been going on, and I had to make a decision, and we had to pull the book. It's unheard of. All of the books that had been written, I had to sit down and do a re-write. And at that time - can you imagine how raw it was? For it to be so public."

She explained: "There have been highs and lows in this business and I've taken it all. You have to accept the good with the bad, I accepted I couldn't write a biography without being really honest.

"Because we'd shared the sofa together on television and people got to know us as a couple, it felt fitting."

Denise admitted to presenters Alex Jones and Jermaine Jenas that the split has been tough for her.

"It's been hard, but I'm in a really good place at the moment. I've done a lot of my crying at home and I've got through it. I've only put in the book all the facts that happened which led to the breakdown of the relationship. But things are good," she said.

Yesterday, Denise confirmed she and Eddie had parted ways after months of speculation.

"Over the past couple of months, there has been much speculation regarding my relationship with Eddie," she said, "It saddens me to confirm that we are no longer a couple. I had to make the difficult decision not to continue in our relationship.

"I will always treasure the good times we spent together, and the memories made."
