Denise Van Outen has bagged her first film role after her shock split from fiancé Eddie Boxshall.
The 47-year-old actress and TV star first began dating the commodities trader from Essex in 2014, but she announced they had parted ways in a surprise post on social media in January this year.
Denise had reportedly discovered Eddie had been sending messages to other women during their seven-year relationship, and told him to pack his bags as she kicked him out of their home in Chelmsford.
Now, she’s trying to move on with her life despite her heartbreak, and has landed her first film role in an upcoming movie alongside comedy icon Jennifer Saunders and award-winning musician Ed Sheeran.
Denise will play a nurse in the comedy drama Sumotherhood, which is directed by Adam Deacon, who also helmed Anuvahood in 2011.
It will be a huge boost to her acting career, and the former Big Breakfast host will be appearing in the movie alongside comedian Peter Serafinowicz, Misfits actor Danny Sapani, model Leomie Anderson, Kevin Bishop, London Hughes and Jaime Winstone, who was unveiled as a contestant on this year’s The Masked Singer.
According to The Sun, Denise is looking forward to playing the character, who is a sexy nurse, after a tough few weeks.
“This role is just what she needs. Denise loves dressing up and being provocative, so in many ways it is the perfect role for her,” the source stated.
Sumotherhood marks writer-actor-director Adam’s return to filmmaking, as it’s more than 10 years since he made his directorial debut with Anuvahood.
He won the BAFTA Rising Star Award in 2012, but took a step back from the limelight in 2015 after being diagnosed as bipolar.
Now, he’s back with the star-studded film, and said the movie will focus on the “variety of life in East London in 2022.
“We are so excited that this incredible cast are joining the project bringing these wacky and crazy characters to life,” he told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this year.
“Both darkly authentic, as well as embracing the vibrant and diverse lifestyle of living in an East London council estate,” Adam explained.
Production on the film is already underway in London, and is expected to end in March.
