Denise Van Outen has enjoyed a successful career since her Big Breakfast days, but she's admitted she had to tell a fib to land the gig in the first place.
The blonde presenter, 47, started off as a weather girl on the popular early morning show of yesteryear and continued her meteoric rise in the years that followed.
However, she has now confessed that she wasn't entirely honest as she managed to bag her first role.
She documented her beginnings in her new book titled A Bit Of Me saying: "When it came to going for jobs, I hadn’t lost my creative streak when it came to asserting my suitability for a particular role.
"I wasn't shy about that, sometimes I'd even add things to my CV that I hadn't done."
She admits she used to think to herself what events she possibly could have been a part of before making up the lie, before saying it wouldn't be possible to do so these days with the power of the internet.
'Of course, with Google and the internet, you can’t get away with that sort of thing anymore, but back then I was pretty comfortable bolstering my credentials where necessary," she wrote.
On the subject of The Big Breakfast she added: "What did I know about reading a weather report? Didn't you have to have the right sort of meteorological knowledge for that?
"What I did know was that this was a fantastic opportunity, Channel 4 was doing a big relaunch of the show, and that’s where I came in."
She confessed to going "all out" in her bid to land the job and told how she assured the interviewers she could write her own weather reports after she claimed to have taken a meteorological course.
While she says bosses knew she was exaggerating, they took a chance on her anyway as her "brazen" lies showed she was "definitely the girl for the job".
Denise opened up about how she was originally supposed to read the weather in a bikini but refused to do so, leading them to the next idea of taking to the skies.
The Big Breakfast was a huge success between 1992 and 20002, with Denise joining in 1996.
She later went on to on the likes of Who Dares, Sings!, The Friday Night Project and she is currently a regular on ITV's daytime talk show Loose Women.
She also provides the narration for hit reality TV show The Only Way Is Essex.
