Denise Richards and Aaron Phypers are facing a new wave of controversy as their already tense divorce battle takes an unexpected turn. Fresh accusations have surfaced, alleging that Richards used her celebrity status to influence the arrest of her estranged husband. The claims have added another layer of turmoil to a case already marked by emotional testimony and legal disputes.
According to a report from Radar Online, Richards has been accused of leveraging her public profile to push law enforcement into taking action against Phypers. He was taken into custody on October 17, just minutes after a divorce hearing at the Los Angeles Superior Court. The arrest involved two felony charges tied to a restraining order Richards filed earlier this year, in which she claimed he assaulted her multiple times.
The move has drawn strong criticism from prominent legal figures. Renowned divorce attorney Raoul Felder expressed disbelief at the timing and circumstances surrounding the arrest. “You’ve got to be kidding me. He was arrested for an allegation from 2022 in the middle of the divorce case. In all my 66 years of practicing law, I’ve never heard of anything like this happening,” he said.

Felder added that the situation raises unusual legal concerns. “It’s double jeopardy because in the civil divorce case, the judge theoretically has power over the criminal act alleged in court. If it’s bad enough, he can put the person in jail. This must be an example of star power.”
Tensions escalated earlier this month when Phypers’ cousin testified in support of Richards during an October 6 hearing. Despite the family connection, Phypers’ defense team argued that the criminal allegations have been weaponized to influence the divorce outcome. Defense attorney Peter Gleason told the outlet, “It seems like these criminal allegations are designed as leverage to benefit in the divorce proceeding.”

He went on to claim, “L.A. law enforcement is there to protect the [Hollywood] industry first, and Denise just happens to be a bigger star than Aaron.” Phypers’ attorney, Michael D. Finley, dismissed the new accusations as unfounded and repetitive. He expressed confidence in the legal process, stating, “We expect the evidence will demonstrate Mr. Phypers’ innocence and that he will be acquitted.”

As the divorce battle deepens, both sides continue to stand firm. With more hearings expected and tensions continuing to rise, the case shows no signs of slowing down, leaving observers watching closely as new developments unfold.
