Steven May's time at Melbourne looks set for a premature end, with the two-time All-Australian defender reportedly told to explore his trade options.

In other developments on Thursday, veteran Adelaide defender Brodie Smith announced his retirement, Gold Coast delisted Alex Sexton, while St Kilda fended off interest from Melbourne, Essendon and North Melbourne to re-sign Marcus Windhager until 2029.
