Democratic Senator Dianne Feinstein – who was a pioneer for women in Washington throughout her five-decade career in politics – has died at the age of 90.

Her office confirmed her death on Friday morning, saying: “Sadly, Senator Feinstein passed away last night at her home in Washington DC.”
