Democratic Party Optimistic About Early Voting Turnout In Michigan

Michigan holds Republican and Democratic presidential primaries

The Democratic National Committee Chair, Jaime Harrison, expressed satisfaction with the early voting turnout in Michigan, emphasizing the party's robust ground game in the state. Harrison highlighted the extensive infrastructure in place, including 52 coordinated offices and hundreds of staff members, which he believes gives them an advantage over the Republican National Committee.

Early in-person voting commenced statewide on Saturday, with Detroit starting on October 19. Additionally, absentee ballots were sent out to Michigan voters via mail at the end of September.

When asked about his confidence in the party's performance, Harrison referred to public polling indicating a close race, with either a tie or a slight lead. He emphasized the importance of mobilizing voters and noted the support from prominent figures within the party.

Notable figures such as Vice President Kamala Harris and former first lady Michelle Obama recently held a rally in Kalamazoo, marking Michelle Obama's first campaign appearance. Harrison mentioned upcoming visits by House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries and highlighted recent visits by Representatives Jim Clyburn and Jasmine Crockett.
