A recent report has revealed that Democratic House candidate Laura Gillen received a $40,000 salary from the left-wing dark money group Our American Future Foundation (OAFF) in 2023. OAFF, along with its sister nonprofit Our American Future Action, supports individuals, primarily Democrats, who plan to run for office in the future. The Open Society Foundations, founded by George Soros, has donated over $18 million to Our American Future Action to promote non-partisan policy advocacy and civic engagement.

Our American Future Foundation, the controlling entity of Our American Future Action, has also received funding from the Soros family. Tax filings show that the Jennifer and Jonathan Allan Soros Foundation, run by one of Soros' sons, provided financial support to OAFF. Additionally, Jonathan, Jennifer, and Robert Soros have made direct contributions to Gillen's campaign.

The fellowship program, which Gillen participated in, aims to financially support aspiring political candidates, predominantly Democrats, to cover living expenses while they focus on future political campaigns. Other Democratic candidates in competitive races, such as Will Rollins, Tony Vargas, Kirsten Engel, and Josh Riley, have also received funding from OAFF.

Concerns have been raised about the potential influence of Soros' funding on Gillen's campaign. Critics argue that candidates supported by Soros may be swayed towards advocating for open borders, anti-police measures, and radical energy policies. The Federal Election Commission received a complaint alleging that OAFF's payments to future House candidates violated federal law, as the nonprofit is prohibited from engaging in political activities.

Soros has channeled millions of dollars into various groups and committees supporting Democratic causes during the 2024 election cycle. His super PACs, Democracy PAC and Democracy PAC II, have collectively donated $53 million to left-wing organizations. Recently, Soros' Democracy PAC contributed $500,000 to the League of Conservation Voters Victory Fund, which subsequently backed Gillen's candidacy through independent expenditures.
