Democrat Analilia Mejia secured a victory in a New Jersey special election for the U.S. House on Thursday, campaigning on a platform of opposition to President Donald Trump.

Her win ensures Democrats retain the 11th District seat, previously held by Democratic Gov. Mikie Sherrill, and she will serve until January.
