Hibs want Blackpool wide player Demetri Mitchell as Martin Boyle prepares to leave the club.
The Easter Road club are interested in the former Hearts loanee with their talisman on the brink of joining Saudi side Al-Faisaly.
Shaun Maloney wants to bring in another left-sided player and Mitchell is firmly on his radar.
The ex-Manchester United youngster can play as a full-back or as a wide midfielder.
Hibs are prepared to offer him the security of a two-and-a-half year to try and entice him north.
Mitchell had 13 years at United and had two loans at Tynecastle before he moved to Blackpool in 2020.
The 25-year-old is going into the final few months of his contract although the Tangerines have an option to extend his deal by another season.
It comes as Australian Boyle could leave the club within the next 48 hours.
He was left out of the Scottish Cup clash with Cove Rangers with Maloney admitting there had been developments over a deal.
He told Hibs TV: "I think there's been progression within that situation.
"Martin has been very professional, we've both been very clear and now we're at a stage where it has progressed.
"I had to make a decision that was best for the team and for Martin, really.
"In the next 24 hours we might have more to say, but that's where we're at."
