Demba Ba had the best reaction to Joe Willock goal after 'almost impossible' Newcastle moment

Demba Ba has paid Joe Willock the ultimate compliment after likening the Newcastle United midfielder's 'almost impossible' finish against West Ham to one of his own goals.

Willock's strike, ultimately, secured a valuable point for the visitors after Craig Dawson had previously headed West Ham in front at the London Stadium.

It was Willock who reacted quickest after Declan Rice failed to head Ryan Fraser's cross clear in stoppage time in the first half.

Willock managed to get between Craig Dawson and Ryan Fredericks and, although the angle was tight, the 22-year-old improvised.

Willock cleverly hooked the ball in off the post with the outside of his boot to make it 1-1 despite goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski's best efforts to prevent it from crossing the line.

It was Willock's first goal since the final day of last season, when the Londoner became the youngest player to score in seven consecutive Premier League appearances, and his first strike since joining the club on a permanent basis last summer.

Ba, who scored 28 goals during a memorable year-and-a-half spell at St James' Park, was certainly left impressed while analysing Saturday's game for Premier League Productions.

"It looks like a Demba Ba goal!" the former Newcastle striker said.

"You see a 10 per cent chance of scoring and you just go for it because you believe and he believed more than any other player in this situation.

"He put his body there and he managed to do something that is almost impossible."
