Various organisations in the district on Thursday took out separate marches to the Sub-Regional Transport Office at Mananthavady demanding to intensify the investigation into the mysterious death of Sindhu, a differently abled senior clerk at the office.
Sindhu, 42, of Pulliyarmattathil house at Ellumandam near Edavaka, was found dead at the house of her brother, where she was staying. Her relatives alleged that she had committed suicide owing to mental torture from some of her colleagues in the office. They said she had faced alienation from colleagues for not cooperating with the bribery happening in the office.
Mahila Congress Wayanad district committee president Chinnamma Jose said the suicide notes found from the room of the deceased revealed that mental torture at the working place was the reason for the extreme step.
However, Sub-Regional Transport Officer Vinod Krishna denied the allegations. The staff had given special care to the deceased as she was a differently abled person, he said.
The police said they intensified their investigation into the death but they were yet to ascertain the exact reason for it.
The Kerala Catholic Youth Movement, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the United Democratic Front and the All India Youth Federation took out marches to the office.
