Demand for protein from consumers on weight-loss jabs could contribute to a possible 10% to 20% increase in the price of some meat this year, according to an expert.

Food price expert Oisin Hanrahan, the chief executive and founder of Tesco-backed supply chain platform Keychain, said a number of pressures including global insecurity and energy prices were contributing to the rising cost of meat for consumers.
