A Delta passenger traveling from Salt Lake City to New Orleans found himself in a peculiar situation when he got stuck in the lavatory mid-flight for 35 minutes due to a jammed door. The pilot came to the rescue, as captured in video footage, where he was seen kicking the door while pulling the handle to free the trapped passenger.
In the video, the pilot is shown kicking the lower part of the door, with a flight attendant assisting by holding the top of the door. After several attempts, the door finally opened, and the relieved pilot shook hands with the passenger amidst cheers from onlookers.
The passenger's wife shared the incident on Reddit, recounting how she became concerned when her husband didn't return from the bathroom after a few minutes. Flight attendants and another passenger tried unsuccessfully to open the door before the pilot intervened, ultimately succeeding in releasing the passenger after 35 minutes.
The wife expressed gratitude that the situation didn't involve a more vulnerable individual and highlighted the efforts made to free her husband. The airline offered the passenger $23 in air miles as compensation and issued an apology, stating they are investigating the incident to prevent similar occurrences in the future.
