Ex-NBA player Delonte West has been arrested once again, the Fairfax County Police Department (FCPD) in Virginia informed TMZ Sports on Friday. The former NBA star was locked up in the Commonwealth on Nov. 2, after he was accused of trespassing.
Delonte West was arrested by the FCPD for trespassing after he refused to leave an area in Huntington
The FCPD says the allegations were reported on Nov. 1, shortly after a person reported that West refused to leave an area in Huntington that he was banned from, per TMZ’s report.
The FCPD claims the property owner showed officers video surveillance that corroborated their story. A warrant for West’s arrest was obtained a short time later.
According to the police report, the FCPD said they found West walking near the Huntington Metro on Nov. 2 at around 8:48 p.m. He was then arrested and held on a $1,000 bond.
Jail records show he was released from custody on Nov. 3. He’s since been charged with a misdemeanor, and the 41-year-old is now due in court for a hearing on the case in January.
Fairfax County police charged West on misdemeanor charges of violating the conditions of his release and resisting arrest
In June, West was also jailed at the Fairfax County Detention Center on a $2,000 bond on misdemeanor charges of violating the conditions of his release and resisting arrest.
Fairfax County police made contact with West around 1 a.m. on June 6 in Groveton and attempted to serve a warrant, police said. West decided to run from officers, resulting in a pursuit and a resisting arrest charge.
Officers found him unresponsive after losing sight of him during the chase.
Narcan was initially administered to West, but the drug didn’t have the desired effect, according to a police statement. The former NBA player was then transported to a local hospital.
Narcan worked after being administered a second time, police said. West was released from the hospital and transported to the Fairfax County Detention Center.
He was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2008
West revealed recently that he was diagnosed with bipolar disorder in 2008. The Washington, D.C. native has also dealt with substance abuse in the past few years.
He was treated at a Florida drug rehabilitation therapy center in 2021 and later ended up working at the facility after former Dallas Mavericks owner Mark Cuban helped him get his life back on track.
In 432 career NBA regular-season games (258 starts) across eight seasons (2004-2012), West averaged 9.7 points and 3.6 assists per game while playing for the Boston Celtics (2004-2007), Seattle SuperSonics (2007-08 season), Cleveland Cavaliers (2008-2010), and Mavericks (2011-12 season).
