Food delivery services are amazing in many different ways. However, just like with every other good thing, there are bound to be some minuses among all those pluses.
Most of the time, the process is relatively smooth. However, as this TikToker shared, the people delivering your orders can sometimes be quite shady. Her friend ordered food and checked the box for it to be left at the door. However, the delivery guy had a different idea of how everything was supposed to go down and demanded that she come and pick it up in person. Scroll down to read the full story!

Getting food delivered to your home is awesome, but not when the delivery guy turns out to be a creep with anger issues
“My friend ordered DoorDash. The driver calls her”
“She answers because she’s assuming there’s some kind of problem — maybe he’s lost. And the guy says, ‘Hey, I have your food. I’m here.’ She said, ‘Okay, yeah. You can just leave it at the door.’ ‘But I’m here. You’re not just gonna come get it from me?'”
“She asked, ‘Did I mark ‘hand it to me’ for the instructions?'”
“‘No, but I’m here, and you don’t seem to be busy, so you want to come grab it from me?’ She said, ‘Actually, I am in the middle of doing some work, so you can just leave it at the door, and I’ll come get it later.’ ‘I’m just trying to do my job — the least you could do is open your door and come take this food from me.’ She said, ‘Well, I ‘marked leave at door,’ so handing it to me isn’t a part of your job.’ He said, ‘I can’t believe you’re wasting my time like this, you effing b word.’ It was so bizarre.”
“And then, after 10-20 minutes, when she went to go get her food, it looked like he threw the food bag down”
“And she asked me, ‘Was I being difficult? Should I have just gone to the door like he wanted?’ Girl. No. A random strange man at your door [is] having a temper tantrum that you won’t come out and interact with him? That sounds so dangerous. And I wanted to share it because I heard there [are] a lot of weird things going on with these food delivery places right now. So, y’all be careful out there.”

@rebeccarogersofficialWhat is going on with these food delivery places?! This is SO WEIRD!😰♬ Quirky Suspenseful Indie-Comedy(1115050) – Kenji Ueda
The woman in the video is Rebecca Rogers, a former teacher, now spreading kindness and empathy and giving back on TikTok. Her content consists mostly of comedic bits, comments on relevant topics, sharing interesting information, and general stuff from her life.
Through her videos, Rebecca has gotten quite a lot of netizens’ attention, building a pretty big follower base that spans over 3 million people. Her followers and other people who came across her content left a total of roughly 113.2 million likes, which is not something that every TikToker can say about their popularity.
One of her more popular recent videos, which garnered more than 311,000 likes, featured a story that happened to her friend when she ordered food from DoorDash. The woman was shocked to learn that when her friend refused to come pick up her order as she had chosen the ‘leave at the door’ option, the delivery guy threw a tantrum and smashed her food to the ground before leaving.
She decided to share the story with the world as this type of behavior is, first and foremost, incredibly disrespectful and unprofessional, but also because characters with anger issues, like this delivery guy, are a danger to everyone, especially women.
The commenters completely agreed with the TikToker’s concern. While her friend doubted whether or not she was the one causing the problem, everyone who heard about the situation was quick to say that this was in no way her fault, adding that the driver’s behavior was unacceptable and should be reported.
More and more reports of delivery drivers harassing women have made their way to the public, making it clear that this story wasn’t just a one-off incident. It also isn’t limited to DoorDash. There are many stories of men providing delivery services for many different companies (like Amazon, IKEA, Uber Eats, Deliveroo, and so on) and harassing their female customers in various ways, from looking up personal profiles and bombarding them with texts to stalking and even attacking them.
Yet, with all these incidents, as Ella Alexander of Glamour shared, very little is being done to deal with this issue and combat this predatory behavior. Even after the situation gets reported to the delivery service provider, they usually refuse to reveal the driver’s name or any other personal details, leaving them anonymous while the offender knows a good deal of details about the victim.
Most, if not all, delivery services would swear that they take this issue seriously and are fully committed to prioritizing the safety of their customers. However, while they might have professional conduct policies in place for their drivers, it’s clearly not enough.
As Andrea Simon, the director of the End Violence Against Women Coalition (EVAW), told Glamour, this is an issue that spans a lot more than just encounters with unprofessional male delivery drivers. Women are forced to deal with harassment in many parts of their lives. The main difference here, however, is that these drivers have access to women’s homes, which raises the risk greatly.
The expert suggested that a good way to try and solve this problem would be for service providers to introduce improved staff training and implement procedures and policies that would be stricter and have much more serious consequences if not complied with.
However, for now, women are mostly left to fend for themselves by carefully choosing how and who they answer the door for, installing security cameras, and taking many other precautions.
This situation is by no means fair. After all, wouldn’t we all like to live in a world where everyone feels safe? Perhaps that sounds like a utopian idea, and maybe it wouldn’t be wrong to say that it’s nearly impossible to achieve, but nothing ever happens on its own. And so, by not being indifferent to these issues and spreading the word as well as helping out when we see something like this happening, we just may be able to contribute to changing things for the better.
