Delhi: Switch to public transport easier said than done

NEW DELHI: Vehicular emissions have a significant contribution in causing air pollution, but experts believe that till Delhi has a robust public transport infrastructure, which provides a comfortable, convenient and seamless travelling experience, it will be difficult to wean people away from personal transport.

In the last decade, Delhi Metro has expanded its network from 190km to more than 390km across the NCR and the combined fleet of 7,200 buses of Delhi Transport Corporation and Cluster Scheme is at an all-time high. Delhi government has promised that by December next year, there would be 11,910 buses, which is more than the targeted fleet of 11,000.
