Delhi high court dismisses plea for deferring NEET-UG

NEW DELHI: Delhi High Court on Thursday dismissed a petition seeking postponement of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET) undergraduate examination for the year 2022. This is totally a misconceived petition, it stated.

The court further said that there was no merit in the petition and that just because they are students, the court would not be harsh. “Had it been somebody else, the court would have dismissed the petition with heavy costs, ” Justice Sanjeev Narula said.

The court also questioned the petitioners’ counsel for approaching the court at the eleventh hour. “How can 15 students decide that the exams should be postponed? Such petitions should be discouraged,” it remarked during the hearing.

The petitioners had urged the court to reschedule the test after four to six weeks on several grounds, including the flood situation in several parts of the country.
