NEW DELHI: Delhi government hospitals have been advised to take measures if there is a report of a monkeypox case in the city. "The Union health ministry issued a detailed set of guidelines earlier this week to states on the management of the viral disease monkeypox. With that the Delhi government has directed all government hospitals to be on alert for any early symptoms of the disease and ensure prompt reporting," said a senior official from the health department.
Officials from city-based hospitals said that though there hasn't been any official order yet, they are on alert mode. "There has been no report of monkeypox cases, but we are preparing (ourselves) to handle patients if it arises. Centre's guidelines are already there and following it as of now," said Medical Director of Lok Nayak Hospital Dr Suresh Kumar.
