NEW DELHI: A Delhi court on Friday put an interim stay till next date on an order seeking explanation from the Commissioner of Police as to why there should be no action against him for non-compliance with directions in a property dispute case.
The court was hearing an appeal by police against the January 20 magistrate court’s order that sought explaination from police chief Raksesh Asthana on efforts made to apprehend accused in the case and on why appropriate action, not limited to making reference for initiation of contempt of court proceedings, be not taken against him for non-compliance of the High Court directions.
District Judge Ramesh Kumar said part order by the magistrate is stayed till the next date of hearing. On Thursday, the magistrate court noted that the accused had already been declared an absconder in the case and vide order December 23, 2021, a report was called from the Commissioner regarding efforts on his arrest.
